Agro Soar is a platformer released exclusively in Australia for the Game Boy in 1993, developed by Melbourne-based studio Beam Software. The game stars the popular Australian television puppet, Agro, who has been trapped in a prehistoric cartoon world inside his own TV by the evil wizard Sethron. Notably, the game is actually a regional reskin of Baby T-Rex, sharing the exact same underlying gameplay and level design as other regional variants like We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story in North America and Bamse in Sweden.
How to Play
As a traditional platformer, your goal is to navigate Agro through various prehistoric levels, avoiding hazards and defeating enemies to ultimately escape the TV world. The controls use the standard Game Boy layout: use the D-pad to move, press A to jump, and press B to throw projectiles at enemies. When playing in your browser, these controls map to the Arrow Keys for movement, Z for A, X for B, and Enter for Start.
Tips
- Take your time exploring each level; enemies often patrol in fixed patterns, so wait for an opening before making difficult jumps.
- Make sure to collect ammunition for your projectile attack, as trying to avoid every enemy without fighting back will quickly drain your health.
