Released in 1990 for the Game Boy by Epoch, Dragon Slayer I is a direct portable adaptation of Nihon Falcom’s influential 1984 action RPG. As a knight navigating a sprawling top-down labyrinth, you must collect crowns, defeat monsters, and ultimately slay an evil dragon. This version faithfully preserves the challenging, old-school mechanics of the original, dropping you right into the dungeon-crawling action.
How to Play
Your goal is to gather magic items, collect crowns, and bring experience points back to your starting house to level up before facing the dragon. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to move your knight, Z and X for the A and B buttons to attack or use items, and Enter to pause or view your stats.
Tips
Because there is no save feature, you will need to complete the game in a single session. Always bring your experience points back to your house to permanently bank them and level up—if you die, you lose everything you are currently carrying. Push blocks to trap enemies or defend yourself when your health is low.
