Game description:

Estpolis Denki II (Japan), released in the West as Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, is a 1995 role-playing game for the SNES developed by Neverland. Acting as a prequel to the original game, it follows the monster hunter Maxim on his epic journey to stop the godlike Sinistrals. The game stands out from other RPGs of its era by blending traditional turn-based combat with deep dungeon puzzles where enemies only move when you do.

How to Play

In dungeons, your goal is to solve intricate room puzzles using various tools like bombs and arrows to progress while managing visible enemy encounters. Use the arrow keys for the D-pad to move, Z to confirm actions or use your currently equipped tool (A button), X to cancel or dash (B button), and Enter for Start.

Tips for Success

  • Feed your Capsule Monsters: Give unwanted weapons and armor to your Capsule Monsters to help them evolve and become powerful AI-controlled allies in battle.
  • Brave the Ancient Cave: Seek out the Ancient Cave later in the game. This massive, randomly generated 99-floor roguelike dungeon offers incredible replay value and exclusive loot that you can bring back to the main quest.
