Developed by xLand Games in 1992, Electroman (originally released as Electro Body in Poland) is a demanding DOS platformer that requires precise movement and careful resource management. As a cyborg traversing heavily guarded alien installations, your objective in each of the game’s eight levels is to find three hidden computer disks and reach the exit teleporter.
How to play
Use the Left and Right Arrow keys to move, the Up Arrow to jump, and the Spacebar to fire your weapon. Stand on a teleport pad and press the Down Arrow to travel between areas or finish a level. In this emulator, press Right Alt + Enter to play in full screen. Note that your weapon level resets at checkpoints; press F2 to save your progress at one, and F3 to load.
Tips
- Master the fixed jump: There is no mid-air control in Electroman. You must commit to your trajectory before jumping, making it critical to judge distances accurately to avoid landmines.
- Use ceilings to your advantage: Because jumps are fixed, bumping your head on a low ceiling can safely truncate your arc, dropping you into tight spaces between hazards.
- Watch for tells: Enemy robots and gun turrets will briefly stand still and emit a whistle or beep right before they attack, giving you a small window to dodge or fire back.
