Donald in Maui Mallard is a 16-bit action platformer for the SNES where Donald Duck takes on a double life. By default, he is the Hawaiian shirt-wearing detective Maui Mallard, armed with a bug-shooting gun. However, when he collects Yin-Yang coins, he can transform into Cold Shadow, a blindfolded ninja who fights with a staff and can swing from hooks.
How to play
Your objective is to explore the island, defeat enemies, and find the missing Shabuhm Shabuhm idol. Switch between Maui’s shooting mechanics and Cold Shadow’s melee attacks to navigate different challenges. The default SNES controls map the D-pad to the arrow keys, A/B to Z/X, and Start/Select to Enter/Shift in your browser.
Tips
- Save your ninja energy: Transforming into Cold Shadow requires Yin-Yang tokens. Don’t waste your ninja form on basic enemies if Maui’s bug gun can handle them from a distance.
- Master the staff swing: As Cold Shadow, practice lodging your staff into narrow gaps to vault higher and reach hidden areas with extra lives and health.
