Released in 1988 by Kemco, Donald Duck is a sports-themed mini-game collection for the Famicom (NES). Better known to Western audiences as the engine behind Snoopy’s Silly Sports Spectacular!, this Japanese exclusive features Donald Duck competing in a series of quirky alternative athletic events. Instead of traditional track and field, players guide Donald through six unconventional challenges including sack races, boot throwing, and pizza balancing.
The objective is to score the most points across the six events by timing your actions and keeping your balance. Because the events range from pogo stick jumping to pole vaulting over a river, each mini-game uses slightly different inputs. Generally, the D-pad (Arrow keys) is used for movement and balancing, while the A and B buttons (Z and X keys) handle jumping, throwing, and interacting with objects. Start (Enter) pauses the action.
During the pizza balancing event, focus entirely on keeping the stack steady rather than moving too quickly, as dropping the pizzas will cost you the event. In the boot-throwing challenge, finding the right angle is just as important as building up your throwing power.
