Bubble Bobble: Lost Cave is a 2012 arcade hack by Bisboch and Aladar, built on the original Taito Bubble Bobble hardware and engine. This V1.0 release was the hack’s debut version, adding 100 brand-new stages assembled from bonus levels Taito had originally designed for home console ports of Bubble Bobble but never included in the arcade original. Playing as the bubble-blowing dragons Bublun and Bobblun, the core gameplay is untouched from the arcade classic â only the level set is new.
How to Play
The objective is the same as the original Bubble Bobble: clear each stage by trapping enemies inside bubbles and popping them, working your way through all 100 new levels. Arcade controls in the browser map the joystick to the arrow keys (up to jump), with the bubble-blow action on the Z key. Insert a virtual coin with Shift and press Enter to start.
Tips
- Pop several bubbled enemies together in one connected chain instead of one at a time â a multi-enemy pop yields better bonus items than popping each enemy individually.
- Don’t leave a trapped enemy in its bubble too long: it will break free and come back faster and more aggressive.
- Because Lost Cave reuses the original Bubble Bobble engine unchanged, every strategy that works in the classic arcade game â chaining pops, herding enemies into corners â still applies across its 100 new stages.
