Bomberman II for the NES is the classic explosive action-maze game by Hudson Soft where you drop bombs to clear paths and trap enemies. Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Bomberman must blast his way out of prison through creatively designed single-player stages, grabbing power-ups to extend his blast radius and increase his bomb count. It also famously introduced a chaotic competitive multiplayer mode to the franchise on the NES.
How to play
Your goal is to clear the maze of enemies before the timer runs out, then find the exit door hidden under a destructible block. Move Bomberman with the D-pad (Arrow Keys) and drop bombs with the A button (Z). Use the B button (X) to detonate bombs early if you have the remote control power-up.
Tips
- Always give yourself an escape route before dropping a bomb; it is easy to trap yourself in a corner.
- Fire power-ups will extend your explosion reach, making them great for taking out multiple enemies safely, but also increasing the risk of getting caught in your own blast.
- The hidden exit door will spawn extra aggressive enemies if you accidentally catch it in an explosion, so avoid bombing near it once revealed.
