Black Heart is a challenging 1991 horizontal shoot ’em up released for the Arcade by UPL and developed by NMK. In a dark fantasy setting, you play as Zil, a warrior riding a winged dragon on a quest to rescue Jeanne from the ruler of the Dark Forces. This Japanese romset delivers eight fast-paced, manic levels where you must blast through waves of mythical enemies and giant bosses.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive the side-scrolling stages and defeat the boss at the end of each level. Use the standard arcade controls mapped to your keyboard: press Shift to insert a coin, and Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to maneuver your dragon, press Z to shoot your primary fireballs, and press X to unleash your special F-Breath attack once it is charged.
Tips
- Protect the rider: While the dragon itself is completely impervious to enemy fire, Zil (the rider) is highly vulnerable. Use the dragon’s body as a shield to block incoming projectiles.
- Collect pixies: Keep an eye out for flying pixies during the stages. Collecting them builds up your gauge, allowing you to unleash the devastating F-Breath attack to clear the screen of enemies.
