Bio Senshi Dan: Increaser Tono Tatakai is a non-linear action platformer released for the NES in 1987. Developed by Atlus and published by Jaleco, the game is set in a dystopian future where Earth has been overrun by an alien menace known as the Increasers. You play as the warrior Dan, who must travel back in time to 1999 to stop the invasion at its source. The game mixes side-scrolling combat with maze-like exploration akin to Metroid, requiring you to navigate complex underground facilities, find secret passages, and defeat bosses.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore each stage’s labyrinthine layout to locate and defeat the boss before the strict time limit expires. You earn energy points by defeating enemies, which act as currency to purchase upgraded weapons and power-ups from hidden shops. Move Dan using the Arrow Keys, jump with Z, and attack with X. Use Enter to pause and access your sub-weapons or items. When you find an elevator or shop entrance, press Up to enter.
Tips
- Time is critical: The longer you take to complete a level, the stronger and more mutated the boss at the end will become. Moving quickly ensures an easier fight.
- Grind for energy early: Take a moment in the early sections to defeat respawning enemies. Building up a pool of energy points allows you to buy better weapons sooner, making navigation much safer.
