Battle City is a classic 1985 multi-directional tank shooter developed and published by Namco for the NES. Players control an armored tank tasked with defending a central command base from waves of enemy armor across grid-based battlefields filled with destructible brick barriers, steel obstacles, and tactical cover.
How to Play
Your main objective is to destroy 20 enemy tanks in each stage while protecting the eagle emblem at the bottom of the screen. If an enemy tank hits the eagle base or you lose all your lives, the mission ends in failure.
Default browser controls:
- D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Move your tank up, down, left, or right
- A / B Buttons (Z / X): Fire tank shells
- Start (Enter): Start game or pause
- Select (Shift): Switch between single-player, two-player, or stage creation mode
Battle Tips
- Prioritize Flashing Tanks: Red glowing tanks drop vital power-ups such as Stars for increased shell speed and firepower, Bombs to instantly eliminate active enemies, and Shovels to temporarily reinforce your base with steel walls.
- Protect the Eagle Emblem: Never leave your base undefended when fast enemy tanks enter the field, and take extra care not to accidentally shoot your own eagle base while clearing nearby threats.
- Use Cover Strategically: Destroy brick walls to create clear firing lanes while using trees for concealment and avoiding ice tiles that cause your tank to slide.
