Game description:

Titan Warriors is an unreleased vertical shoot-’em-up developed by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988. Originally intended to be a spiritual sequel to Capcom’s 1984 arcade game Vulgus, it features fast-paced, top-down space combat across a variety of alien planets. Despite being fully completed, it was inexplicably cancelled before seeing a retail release, eventually surviving as a playable leaked prototype.

How to Play

You control a spaceship navigating vertically scrolling stages, destroying enemy waves and massive bosses. The controls follow the standard NES layout: use the D-pad (mapped to your arrow keys) to move your ship in eight directions, press the A or B buttons (mapped to Z and X) to fire your weapons, and use Start (Enter) to pause. You can acquire power-ups to upgrade your main cannon and deploy secondary pods that fly alongside your ship for extra coverage.

Tips

  • Collect the power-ups carefully: grabbing the same type repeatedly upgrades your firepower, but switching to a different weapon type replaces your current setup.
  • Your side pods can absorb small enemy bullets, so position them strategically to act as shields when the screen gets crowded.
  • Pay attention to the alien embryos found in certain stages; how you interact with them can branch the level path and change the enemies you face next.
