Game description:

Autobots is a turn-based puzzle game developed by L. Scott Emmons and released for DOS in 1989. Despite the title, it is unrelated to the Transformers series. Instead, it is a survival game in the style of classic mainframe titles like Chase or Daleks, where you must outmaneuver relentless robots.

How to play

Your goal is to survive by causing the pursuing robots to crash into one another. When two robots collide, they form a pile of debris, which acts as a deadly obstacle you can use to destroy the remaining enemies.

Use the arrow keys to move across the grid. The game also provides a few emergency abilities: press F1 to randomly teleport when trapped, or F2 to zap adjacent squares. Since DOS keyboard mappings varied, the exact controls can be viewed directly in-game. If you are using a connected gamepad, it will be mapped automatically. Press Right Alt + Enter for full screen.

Tips

Use teleportation only as a last resort. Teleporting places you at a random location, meaning you can easily materialize right next to a robot and instantly lose. Try to route the robots around debris piles whenever possible instead.
