Game description:

Armored Warriors is a 1994 arcade beat ’em up from Capcom, released in Japan as Powered Gear: Strategic Variant Armor Equipment, running on Capcom’s CPS-2 hardware. Up to three players fight side by side as pilots of towering mechs called Variant Armors, blasting and smashing through seven stages of enemy war machines. What sets it apart from Capcom’s other brawlers is its combat: rather than punches and kicks, you’re swinging drills, blades, and cannons salvaged straight off the mechs you’ve just destroyed.

How to Play

The goal is to fight your way through each stage’s enemy forces and take down the boss waiting at the end, working up to a final assault on an escaping battleship and its guardian, the mecha “Mother Brain.” In the browser, move your mech with the Arrow Keys, attack with Z, jump with X, and fire your equipped sub-weapon with C. Press Enter to start and Shift to insert a coin.

Tips

  • Grab better parts as you go: destroyed enemy mechs drop arms, legs, and sub-weapons — walking over a drop equips it immediately, and swapping in a better part can drastically change your attack speed and range.
  • Watch your sub-weapon ammo: most salvaged weapons have limited shots, so keep an eye on your supply and be ready to swap to a fresher part when it runs dry.
  • Team up in multiplayer: with a second or third player, you can combine your mechs using the Team-up Change system for a stronger joint attack — save it for boss fights, where the extra damage matters most.
