After Burner II is a fast-paced jet combat shooter developed by Sega for arcades in 1987 and ported to the Sega Genesis. Piloting an F-14 Tomcat from a third-person rear perspective, you scramble through intense dogfights across 21 stages, banking, rolling, and throttling up to lock on and obliterate enemy aircraft before they shoot you down.
How to Play
Your main weapon is a vulcan cannon with unlimited ammunition, supplemented by a finite supply of homing missiles. When an enemy aircraft enters your target reticle, a lock-on tone sounds; fire a missile immediately to tracking-destroy the bandit. Throttle controls allow you to speed up or slow down to dodge incoming fire or match enemy flight paths.

Tips
- Fire missiles only on target lock: Save your limited missile stock for when the targeting reticle locks on and beeps, guaranteeing a hit on maneuverable targets.
- Use rolls to dodge missile locks: Tap left or right sharply to execute a barrel roll when enemy missiles close in on your tail to break target locks.
- Watch for refueling planes: Mid-air refueling stages resupply your homing missile payloadโstay steady behind the tanker to top off your weapons.
