Chip ’N Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 is a 1993 co-op action platformer released by Capcom for the NES. Unlike many punishing Capcom titles of the era, this late-cycle sequel maintains the series’ accessible and lighthearted design. Players control the iconic chipmunks through detailed stages, picking up crates, apples, and even each other to throw at enemies as they chase down the villainous Fat Cat.
How to play
The objective is to navigate each stage, defeat mechanical enemies, and clear the boss at the end of the area. Use the arrow keys to move. Press X (A button) to jump and Z (B button) to pick up objects. Pressing Z again throws the held object forward; you can also hold Up or Down while throwing to toss it vertically or drop it. Press Enter to pause the game. In two-player mode, careful coordination is required, as accidentally grabbing and throwing your partner can easily lead to a lost life.
Tips
- Use vertical throws: Throwing crates upward is essential for hitting airborne enemies safely and knocking down out-of-reach items.
- Carry your partner: If one player struggles with a tricky platforming jump, the other can pick them up and safely carry them across the gap.
