Prehistoric Isle 2 is a frantic, side-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the Arcade in 1999 by Yumekobo and SNK. As the sequel to the 1989 classic, the game drops you into the cockpit of an advanced helicopter to battle swarms of dinosaurs that have invaded a modern city. Your primary mission is to blast through the prehistoric menace while carefully rescuing stranded civilians scattered throughout the intense, fast-paced levels.
How to play
As a classic arcade shooter, your objective is to survive the dinosaur onslaught, defeat massive bosses, and rescue as many civilians as possible for bonus points. The default arcade controls in your browser are mapped to the Arrow Keys for movement, Z for your primary weapon, X to deploy your screen-clearing smart bomb, Shift to insert a coin, and Enter to start.
Tips
- Rescue carefully: Survivors grant substantial point bonuses, but lingering to pick them up can leave you vulnerable to enemy fire. Clear the immediate area before descending.
- Manage your bombs: Smart bombs are limited and highly effective against bosses or when you’re overwhelmed by projectiles. Save them for when you are cornered.
- Upgrade your firepower: Collect weapon power-ups to cycle between different firing spreads. Find the weapon type that best suits your playstyle and try to maintain it.
