Game description:

Xena: Warrior Princess – The Talisman of Fate is a 1999 3D arena fighting game released for the Nintendo 64. Developed by Saffire, it brings the characters from the hit television series into up-to-four-player multiplayer brawls. You can select from a roster of iconic figures like Xena, Gabrielle, Ares, Callisto, and Joxer, battling it out using their signature weapons and special abilities.

How to Play

The objective is to defeat your opponents by depleting their health bars in free-roaming 3D arena combat. Since this is a Nintendo 64 title, the default browser controls map movement to the arrow keys, while the A and B buttons correspond to X and C. The C-buttons, which are crucial for executing many of the game’s special attacks and combos, are typically mapped to WASD. Enter acts as the Start button.

Tips

  • In the single-player quest mode, you often face two opponents simultaneously. One typically stays back to use ranged attacks while the other engages in close combat; try to keep both in your line of sight to avoid being surrounded.
  • If you find the standard campaign too challenging, try Roster Mode. It allows you to select a team of up to five characters who will seamlessly step in as your current fighter is defeated.
  • Spend time in Practice Mode to learn each character’s unique weapon combos. Stringing together specific attacks is far more effective for dealing damage than button mashing.
