Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is a fast-paced 2D fighting game developed by Capcom and released for the PlayStation in 1999. As the second major crossover in the beloved Vs. series, it pits Marvel comic book icons like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Captain America against legendary World Warriors such as Ryu, Chun-Li, and Akuma. To accommodate the console’s memory limits, this PlayStation port replaces the arcade’s active tag-team mechanic with an assist-based system. Despite this change, it faithfully retains the explosive combat, juggling air combos, and screen-filling visual effects that made the original a classic.
How to Play
Your goal is to deplete your opponent’s vitality gauge using a mix of regular attacks, special moves, and devastating Hyper Combos. In the browser emulator, PlayStation controls typically map the D-pad to the arrow keys for movement and jumping. The attack buttons (Punches and Kicks) are mapped to your keyboardโoften Z, X, C and A, S, D or similar combinations, depending on your layout. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select. During combat, use your designated assist button to call your partner into the arena for a quick supporting attack.
Tips
- Use Assists Wisely: Calling your partner for a “Variable Assist” is perfect for extending combos or covering your approach. However, time it carefullyโif your partner is hit while on screen, they will take damage.
- Master the Air Combo: Launching opponents into the air and following up with a chained sequence of light to heavy attacks (the “Magic Series”) is essential for maximizing your damage output.
- Punish with Hyper Combos: Keep an eye on your super meter. Blocking an opponent’s risky special move and immediately retaliating with a Hyper Combo is one of the most reliable ways to secure a knockout.
