Game description:

WWF WrestleMania 2000 is a professional wrestling game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Running on the acclaimed AKI engine, the game is celebrated for its deep grappling mechanics, extensive roster of WWF superstars, and robust create-a-wrestler mode. This Japanese release features the same core gameplay that made the title a staple of the N64 wrestling library, allowing players to perform signature moves and compete in various match types.

How to play

The objective is to defeat your opponent via pinfall, submission, or other match-specific rules. The grappling system relies on timing and momentum rather than button mashing. Use the D-pad or analog stick to move your wrestler. The A button is used for grapples, and the B button is for strikes. The C-buttons handle running, Irish whips, and climbing the turnbuckles, while the R button is used for blocks and reversals.

Tips

  • Stick to weak grapples (tap A) and basic strikes early in the match; strong grapples (hold A) are easily reversed until you build momentum.
  • Once your spirit meter flashes “SPECIAL”, you can perform your wrestler’s signature finishing move from a strong grapple.
  • Taunting increases your momentum, but leaves you vulnerable to attacks.
