Wai Wai World 2: SOS from Parsley Castle is a 1991 action platformer developed by Konami for the NES. Featured here with the English translation patch by Vice, this crossover sequel brings together characters from several of the company’s biggest franchises. You play as Rickle, a small robot who must save the Konami universe by jumping, shooting, and temporarily transforming into iconic heroes like Simon Belmont (Castlevania), Goemon (Mystical Ninja), Bill Rizer (Contra), and Upa (Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa).
How to Play
Navigate a variety of side-scrolling, auto-scrolling, and vehicle-based levels to reach Parsley Castle. Standard NES controls apply: use the D-pad (arrow keys) to move, the A button (X) to jump, and the B button (Z) to attack. Press Start (Enter) to pause, and use Select (Shift) to transform into a different character once you have collected enough power-ups.
Tips
- At the start of the game, you can choose between different character loadouts. Pick a team that suits your playstyle; for instance, Bill Rizer provides excellent ranged firepower, while Simon Belmont offers a flexible, mid-range whip attack.
- Defeated enemies drop icons that fill your transformation meter. Transforming into a Konami hero drains this meter over time and upon taking damage, so keep collecting items to stay in your upgraded forms.
- The game frequently shifts genres. Be prepared for shoot-’em-up stages modeled after TwinBee or Gradius, as well as classic overhead puzzle segments, which will require you to quickly adapt your strategy.
