An isometric shoot ’em up ported to the Sega Genesis in 1994, Viewpoint takes traditional arcade action and tilts it at an angle. Originally developed by Sammy, this challenging shooter has you piloting a ship through six stages of mechanical enemies and environmental hazards. It stands out for its pre-rendered 3D visual style and memorable, funk-inspired electronic soundtrack.
How to Play
Navigate to the end of each scrolling stage and destroy the boss to advance. Use the D-pad to move your ship in eight directions. Press the A or C button to shoot, holding it down to charge a more powerful blast, and press B to drop a devastating bomb. When playing in the browser, movement is mapped to the arrow keys, action buttons to Z, X, and C, and Start to Enter.
Tips
- Use the charge shot: While rapid fire is good for small enemies, mastering the charge shot is essential for taking down larger targets quickly.
- Mind the height: Because of the isometric perspective, some obstacles act as walls. You can position yourself behind them to block incoming enemy fire.
- Hoard your bombs: You only get three bombs per life. Save them for boss fights or moments when dodging is impossible.
