Vasara 2 (Set 1) is a vertical-scrolling bullet hell shoot ’em up released for the Arcade in 2001 by Visco Corporation. Set in an alternate-history Sengoku period infused with steampunk technology, players pilot hover-bikes to battle against the robotic forces of Oda Nobunaga. How to Play
Choose from four distinct warriors and dodge through dense waves of enemy fire to reach and defeat the warlord at the end of each stage. For browser play, the default arcade controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move your character, tap Z to fire your main weapon or hold it for a melee strike, and press X to unleash a stored Vasara Attack. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Master the Melee: Your close-range attack isn’t just for dealing heavy damage; it also deflects many types of enemy bullets, creating a crucial safe zone during intense enemy barrages.
- Collect Blood Gems: Destroying enemies and deflecting bullets yields red gems. Collecting enough of these fills your gauge, allowing you to stock up to three charges for your Vasara Attack.
- Don’t Fear Collisions: Unlike most shoot ’em ups, crashing directly into enemy ships won’t instantly destroy your hover-bikeโit simply knocks you back. Focus your attention primarily on dodging the actual projectiles.
