Game description:

TwinBee is a classic 1985 vertical-scrolling arcade shoot ’em up developed by Konami. Known for its bright, colorful aesthetic that helped pioneer the “cute ’em up” subgenre, players pilot the titular anthropomorphic spacecraft through varied stages filled with vibrant, cartoon-like enemies.

The objective is to clear waves of aerial and ground-based foes while surviving incoming fire. You use a standard forward shot for flying enemies and drop bombs to destroy ground targets. A distinctive mechanic is the bell power-up system: shooting the clouds releases bells that you can juggle with your own shots. Juggling a bell changes its color, granting different upgrades such as a speed boost, a twin cannon, or a protective barrier when collected. Typical arcade controls use the directional keys for movement, with one action button for your primary shot and another for dropping bombs.

Careful bell juggling is the key to success. Be cautious not to shoot a bell too many times, as it can be destroyed or turn into an enemy bee that attacks you. Grabbing a blue bell for a speed upgrade early on is crucial for dodging enemy bullet patterns, but taking too many speed boosts can make your ship difficult to control. Additionally, if your ship’s arms are destroyed by enemy fire, an ambulance will briefly appear to repair them; missing it means you won’t be able to drop bombs until your next life.
