Game description:

TwinBee is a vibrant, vertical-scrolling cute-’em-up released by Konami in 1986 for the NES (Famicom Disk System). You control a quirky spacecraft that resembles a cartoon bee, flying over brightly colored landscapes while fighting off waves of whimsical enemies. As one of the defining titles of the genre, it introduces a unique bell-juggling power-up system and simultaneous two-player cooperative play, setting it apart from more serious shooters of the era.

How to Play

Your goal is to survive through vertically scrolling stages, destroying both airborne and ground-based enemies to score points and defeat bosses. Use the arrow keys to maneuver your ship. Press the X key to fire your main cannon at flying enemies, and the Z key to drop bombs on ground targets. Press Enter to start or pause the game.

Tips for Success

  • Shoot the clouds to reveal bells, then shoot the bells repeatedly to keep them bouncing and change their color. Different colors grant different power-ups like speed boosts, twin shots, or protective shields.
  • Watch your fire when jugglingโ€”shooting a bell too many times turns it into an enemy bee that will attack you.
  • If your ship takes a hit to its arms, you will lose the ability to drop bombs. Keep an eye out for the flying ambulance that appears once per life; catch it to restore your arms.
