The Real Ghostbusters is a 1987 arcade run-and-gun shooter developed by Data East, based on the hit animated series. In this isometric action game, players team up to blast their way through haunted streets and mansions. You must rely on your proton packs and various power-ups to clear waves of ghosts, ghouls, and monsters before facing massive boss encounters at the end of each stage.

How to play

Your objective is to survive the ghost onslaught and defeat the boss of each level. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move your Ghostbuster, Z to fire your standard weapon, and X to use your energy beam to capture stronger ghosts. Press Shift or Space to insert a coin, and Enter to start the game.

Tips

• Keep moving: Ghosts spawn endlessly in many areas. Do not stay in one place trying to clear them out; push forward toward the boss.
• Use both weapons: Your standard shot is great for weak enemies, but you will need the energy beam to wrangle tougher spirits and bosses.
• Grab power-ups quickly: Upgrades will increase your firepower or give you a protective aura, making crowded stages much easier to survive.
