Game description:

Tetris The Absolute The Grand Master 2 is a high-speed arcade puzzle game developed by Arika and released in 2000. Building on the foundation of its legendary predecessor, it pushes the falling-block formula to its limits with a demanding grading system that tracks your speed and efficiency. Designed for competitive and hardcore players, this sequel introduces even faster gameplay, requiring lightning-quick reflexes as you strive to reach the ultimate Grand Master rank.

How to Play

The objective is to clear lines and score points as quickly as possible without letting the blocks stack to the top of the screen. In the browser, you can typically insert a coin with Shift (or 5) and start the game with Enter (or 1). Use the Arrow Keys to move the pieces left and right, and press Down for a soft drop. The Z and X keys are used to rotate the pieces counterclockwise and clockwise.

Tips for Grand Masters

  • Use the Sonic Drop: Pressing Up instantly drops a piece to the bottom of the stack, but unlike a modern “hard drop,” it doesn’t lock immediately. This gives you a brief window to slide the piece into tight spots.
  • Keep the stack flat: At high speeds (20G), pieces spawn instantly at the bottom of the board. A flat stack ensures you have enough room to maneuver and rotate pieces safely.
  • Aim for multi-line clears: Your grade improves based on your speed and the number of lines cleared at once. Focus on setting up Tetris clears (four lines) to maximize your grade progression.
