Game description:

Takahashi Meijin no Boukenjima III is a classic 1993 platformer developed by Hudson Soft for the Game Boy. Released in Western markets as Adventure Island II: Aliens in Paradise, it brings the familiar island-hopping gameplay of the series to a handheld format. Players once again take control of Master Higgins as he battles through tropical stages, riding dinosaur companions and collecting fruit to keep his energy from running out.

How to Play

The objective is to guide Master Higgins to the end of each stage before his hunger meter depletes. You can find fruit to restore energy, break open eggs to find weapons like axes or boomerangs, and rescue dinosaur friends who act as mounts with unique abilities. The Game Boy controls use the D-pad for movement, A to jump, B to attack or hold to run, and Start/Select. In your browser, these map to the arrow keys, Z/X, and Enter/Shift.

Tips

  • Always keep an eye on your hunger meter; prioritise collecting fruit even if it means taking a slightly riskier path.
  • Store your favourite dinosaur companions and weapons in the item inventory between stages to save them for difficult boss encounters.
  • If you find a skateboard, be careful: you will automatically move forward and cannot stop, making platforming much faster but harder to control.
