Game description:

Tagin’ Dragon (also known as Colorful Dragon) is an unlicensed 1990 maze game for the NES, originally developed by Sachen and published in North America by Bunch Games. Played from a top-down perspective, the objective is to guide your dragon through 20 different mazes while eliminating three CPU-controlled dragons in each round. The gameplay revolves around a unique tail-biting mechanic: successfully biting an enemy’s tail adds a segment to your own dragon, while getting bitten causes you to lose one. Once a dragon’s tail is completely consumed, it turns into a skeleton and is removed from the board.

How to Play

Navigate the maze and try to bite the tails of the enemy dragons while protecting your own. Clearing all three enemies in a round will open the door to the next level. The game uses standard NES controls, mapped to your keyboard in the browser:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys
  • Bite: Z or X (mapped to A/B buttons)
  • Start/Pause: Enter

Tips

  • Approach enemy dragons from behind or the side; attacking head-on can be risky due to the game’s inconsistent hit detection.
  • Use the maze walls to your advantage to corner enemies and safely bite their tails without exposing your own.
