Game description:

Super Mario 64 Shadow Edition Plus v1.0.2 is a custom ROM hack that brings Sega’s iconic anti-hero, Shadow the Hedgehog, into the classic Nintendo 64 3D platformer. This version replaces Mario with Shadow, complete with a customized model and unique voice clips. Players can explore the familiar Peach’s Castle and its many worlds, collecting Power Stars while experiencing the beloved platforming gameplay with a fresh, crossover twist.

How to Play

The objective remains the same as the original game: explore various worlds accessed through paintings to collect Power Stars and defeat Bowser. The default browser controls for the Nintendo 64 are typically mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys for movement, Z to jump (A button), X to attack or dive (B button), and Enter for Start. The camera can usually be controlled with the C-buttons, often mapped to I, J, K, and L.

Tips

  • Shadow’s movement generally mirrors standard physics, meaning you can perform the essential triple jumps, long jumps, and wall kicks to reach higher areas.
  • Use the dive maneuver (pressing the attack button while running) to clear larger gaps quickly.
  • Pay attention to the signs in the castle courtyard and first floor, as they will teach you the fundamentals of navigating the 3D space if you need a refresher.
