Super Adventure Island is a colorful 1992 action platformer developed by Hudson Soft for the SNES. You control the island-dwelling hero Master Higgins as he traverses diverse tropical environments to rescue his wife, Jeannie Jungle, who has been turned to stone by the evil sorcerer Dark Cloak.
How to play
Your primary objective is to reach the end of each stage before your vitality meter depletes. The meter constantly drains over time, so you must keep moving and collect the fruit scattered throughout the levels to stay alive. Higgins starts with a simple jump and throw attack, wielding axes or boomerangs that can be upgraded by collecting duplicates. Move with the arrow keys, jump with X, and throw your current weapon using Z or S. Press Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Keep moving: Your vitality meter acts as a strict time limit. Do not linger to defeat every enemy; prioritize speed and collecting fruit.
- Upgrade the boomerang: The boomerang is incredibly versatile, as it can clear enemies above you and hit targets on its return trip.
- Watch your step: Tripping over small rocks will not kill you instantly, but it will significantly drain your vitality.
