Game description:

Sneak ‘n Peek is a 1982 Atari 2600 game by U.S. Games built around hide and seek. The hiding player picks a spot behind one of the objects on screen — furniture, curtains, whatever the room offers — while the seeker looks away and counts. When the countdown ends, the seeker takes the joystick and checks each hiding spot in turn. It is a two-player game at its core: the whole point is outguessing the person next to you.

How to play

The hider moves behind an object and presses the trigger button to lock in their spot. The screen then signals the seeker’s turn. Move to each possible hiding place and press the trigger to check it — find the hider and the round is won. Cycle through game variations with SELECT before starting to adjust the number of hiding spots or the rules.

Tips

  • As the hider, avoid obvious spots — the seeker will check prominent furniture and corners first. The less expected the hiding place, the better.
  • As the seeker, sweep hiding spots in a methodical order rather than jumping around; a systematic pass beats guessing and wastes less time.
