Game description:

Silk Worm is a classic side-scrolling shoot-’em-up released for the NES in 1990. What sets it apart from typical shooters of the era is its asymmetrical gameplay. Players can choose to pilot the Gato helicopter, offering traditional free-flying horizontal shooter mechanics, or drive the Interceptor jeep, a ground-based vehicle that must navigate terrain and jump over obstacles while firing in multiple directions. In two-player mode, both vehicles team up for cooperative action.

How to Play

Your objective is to battle through enemy lines, destroying waves of hostile forces and massive bosses at the end of each stage. For the default NES web emulator controls, use the Arrow keys to move or aim, Z and X to fire and jump, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • If playing solo, the helicopter is generally easier to control as it can avoid ground obstacles and fly freely.
  • The jeep can fire in various directions; mastering its arc of fire and jump timing is essential for taking down aerial enemies and avoiding landmines.
  • Collect the twin-orbs dropped by specific enemies to upgrade your weapons and increase your firepower.
