Shackled is a fantasy action-adventure game released for the Arcade in 1986 by Data East. Heavily inspired by the cooperative dungeon-crawling of Gauntlet, the game tasks players with navigating through monster-filled labyrinths while rescuing captive allies. When you free a prisoner, they join your party and follow behind you, effectively multiplying your firepower as you face off against hordes of undead and demonic enemies.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore the dungeon, defeat enemies, rescue companions to build your party, and survive as long as possible. To play in the browser, press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to move your character, and press Z or X to attack.
Tips
- Protect your allies: Your rescued companions trail behind you and can be killed by enemy attacks. Try to position yourself so you take the brunt of the assault or shield them using the environment.
- Manage the crowd: Enemies often swarm in large numbers from spawners. Focus on destroying the source of the monsters before dealing with the stragglers to prevent being overwhelmed.
