Sailormoon (released in France in 1994) is a localized 16-bit beat ’em up based on the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon anime, originally developed by Angel for the SNES. You take control of one of the five inner Sailor SenshiโMoon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Venusโbrawling through Tokyo locations like the Azabu-Juuban shopping district to defeat the Dark Kingdom’s monsters. The game translates the show’s aesthetic into a solid, colorful brawler that supports two-player cooperative play.
How to Play
Choose your Senshi and fight through waves of enemies to reach the stage boss. Each character has different speed, range, and attack power.
- D-Pad / Arrow Keys: Move in eight directions.
- Y / Z Key: Attack or pick up items (like health-restoring cakes and roses).
- B / X Key: Jump.
- Special Attacks: Press Attack and Jump simultaneously to execute a powerful area-of-effect move, which costs a small amount of your health. You can also hold the Attack button to charge a unique ranged attack.
Tips
- Roses are the most valuable item; they restore significant health and can grant an extra life if your health meter is already full.
- Watch out for sliding enemies. Instead of approaching them directly, move vertically out of their line, let them slide past, and then grab and throw them.
- If you get surrounded by spinning enemies, stick to rapid punches rather than trying to grab them, as their blades will interrupt your throws.
