Sadari is a falling-block arcade puzzle game developed by Dooyong and released in 1993. Taking its name from the Korean word for “ladder”, the game puts a unique spin on the match-three formula. Instead of accelerating the speed of falling pieces over time, Sadari challenges players by increasing the sheer volume of blocks on screen, requiring quick multitasking. Like some other arcade puzzlers of its era, progressing through the stages rewards players with digitised images of women.
How to Play
Unlike typical puzzle games where you control the falling pieces directly, in Sadari you control a cursor at the bottom of the screen. Catch the falling blocks with your cursor and press the action button to drop them into place. Your goal is to align three or more blocks of the same colour horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to clear them from the board. Use the arrow keys to move your cursor, and press Z or X to drop blocks. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.
Tips
- Look for power blocks: Keep an eye out for special flashing power blocks. When matched, they will destroy all surrounding blocks of that same colour.
- Manage the volume: Since the game ramps up difficulty by throwing more blocks at you rather than making them fall faster, prioritise keeping the middle of your board clear to give yourself room to catch everything.
