Developed by Digital Extremes in 1993, Epic Pinball is a classic DOS simulation that captures the fast-paced action of real arcade tables. Famous for its silky smooth 2D scrolling and memorable tracker soundtracks, the game offers a collection of imaginative, uniquely themed pinball tables. It remains a standout of the era for its precise physics and deep scoring mechanics.
How to play
Your objective is to maximise your score by hitting targets, completing drop-banks, and triggering table-specific missions without letting the ball drain. Epic Pinball uses its original DOS control scheme: use the left and right Shift keys to operate the flippers, the Spacebar to nudge the table, and the Enter or down arrow key to pull the plunger. If you want to play in full-screen, press Right Alt + Enter.
Tips
- Trap the ball: Instead of flipping at everything that moves, hold the flipper up as the ball rolls down the inlane to trap it. This stops the momentum and lets you aim your next shot carefully.
- Watch your nudging: You can bump the table with the Spacebar to save a ball heading for the outlanes, but doing it too aggressively will cause a Tilt and instantly lose your ball.
- Follow the lights: Flashing targets and lanes indicate your current objectives. Completing these sequences is the key to unlocking multiball and massive scoring jackpots.
