Pac Man Chomp Chomp is a rare 1983 arcade maze game developed by Namco, serving as an altered release of Pac & Pal. Created to tie in with the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, this variation replaces the original companion character Miru with Pac-Man’s loyal dog, Chomp Chomp. The traditional dot-eating formula is replaced with a new strategic loop: players must flip over cards in the maze to unlock items while dodging the ghosts.
How to Play
Your objective is to collect every unlocked item in the maze to complete the round. Chomp Chomp will wander the board picking up items to carry them into the ghost penโintercept him to claim the items before they are lost. Instead of power pellets, you collect special power items that allow you to shoot and temporarily stun the ghosts.
Use the Arrow keys to move Pac-Man. Press Z or X to fire your special attack when holding a power item. Use Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.
Tips
- Ghosts are only stunned and frozen in place when shot, not sent back to the ghost house. You can safely pass through them, but make sure they don’t unfreeze while you are touching them.
- Chomp Chomp is not an enemy and will not hurt you. However, letting him drag items into the central pen costs you the score for those items, so grab them from him quickly.
- Flip cards as early as possible to open up the board, making it easier to plan a safe route to the power items when the ghosts close in.
