Munch Mobile (also known as Joyful Road in Japan) is a highly original 1983 arcade driving game developed by SNK and released in the US by Centuri. Instead of simply racing to the finish line, you control a quirky, anthropomorphic car equipped with extending arms, allowing you to reach out and grab fruit, fish, and fuel from the sides of the road as you drive.
The objective is to drive as far as possible without crashing or running out of gas. Use the arrow keys to steer your car along the winding road, and the action keys (typically Z and X) to extend your arms to collect items. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start. You must carefully maneuver to avoid hitting trees, other cars, and roadside obstacles, both with the car itself and its vulnerable arms.
- Watch your fuel: Grabbing gas cans is essential to keep your run going, so always prioritize reaching for them over scoring points.
- Protect your hands: Your extending arms can be injured by trees and obstacles, rendering them temporarily unusable. Grab items swiftly and retract your arms.
- Use the trash cans: You are awarded extra points for disposing of the inedible remains of your food into the trash cans scattered along the route.
