Mortal Kombat is a landmark 1993 fighting game developed by Midway Games for the Sega Genesis. Famous for introducing digitized graphics and uncompromising violence to the 16-bit console generation, it features a distinct roster of seven martial artists competing in a deadly tournament. The Genesis port is particularly notable for retaining the arcade’s signature blood and Fatalities, giving it a notorious edge over its contemporary rivals.
How to Play
Win best-of-three rounds by depleting your opponent’s health bar using a mix of basic strikes, character-specific special moves, and blocks. When the announcer calls to “Finish Him!” at the end of a deciding round, you have a few seconds to input a unique button sequence to perform a Fatality.
