Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on the SNES is a side-scrolling action beat-’em-up that faithfully captures the spirit of the hit 90s TV show. Developed by Natsume, you begin each stage as one of the five original teenagers with attitude in their civilian forms. Halfway through the level, fighting off waves of Putty Patrollers, you reach a boss area and morph into your Power Ranger form. This transformation fully restores your health and equips your character with their signature power weapon and a screen-clearing special attack. The final stages shift the gameplay entirely, placing you in the cockpit of the Megazord for one-on-one, fighting game-style clashes against Rita Repulsa’s giant monsters.
How to Play
The objective is to fight your way through five initial stages as the core Rangers, followed by Megazord battles to save Angel Grove. Standard SNES controls mapped to the browser are:
- Movement: Arrow keys
- Attack: Z
- Jump: X
- Special Attack (Morphed): S – Note that using your special attack drains a portion of your health.
Tips
- Save your health for the boss: Since morphing halfway through the stage restores your health to full, don’t worry too much about taking damage in the civilian half of the level.
- Use wall jumps: Rangers can perform a wall jump by jumping against the edge of the screen or a wall and pressing jump again. This is essential for dodging attacks and navigating certain areas.
- Manage your special attacks: Your bombastic special attack is powerful but costs health. Save it for when you are surrounded by enemies or need to deal burst damage to a boss.
