Math Rescue is an educational DOS platformer developed by Redwood Games and published by Apogee Software in 1992. You play as either a boy or a girl navigating side-scrolling levels to retrieve numbers stolen by mischievous creatures called Gruzzles.
How to play
Your goal is to collect the scattered numbers in each level. Touching a floating number box prompts a math problemโranging from addition to division depending on your chosen difficulty. Solving it correctly awards points and slime, which you can pour on the Gruzzles to immobilize them. Once you collect enough numbers, a key appears to unlock the exit. Use the arrow keys to move, and the spacebar or Alt keys to jump and pour slime.
Tips
- Stockpile your slime: You only earn slime by answering math problems correctly, so save it for when a Gruzzle blocks a critical path.
- Protect your lids: Your health is represented by garbage can lids. Touching a Gruzzle costs you a lid, and losing them all will end your game.
