M.I.A.: Missing in Action is a 1989 run-and-gun arcade game developed by Konami, widely considered the spiritual successor to the classic Rush’n Attack (Green Beret). Dropping the player into enemy territory, this intense side-scrolling platformer focuses on infiltrating POW camps in Vietnam to rescue captured hostages.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate through six stages, fighting off enemy forces, and ultimately protecting the rescued POWs during the final extraction. Use the following default browser controls for the arcade version:
- Insert Coin: Shift
- Start: Enter
- Movement: Arrow Keys
- Attack / Action: Z / X / C
Tips
- Watch for Red Soldiers: Your default weapon is a combat knife. Defeat the red-clad enemy soldiers to acquire powerful secondary weapons like the assault rifle, flamethrower, bazooka, and grenades.
- Use the Tunnels: Many levels feature underground tunnels and alternative paths. Using these routes can help you avoid heavily guarded areas or approach enemies from a better angle.
- Protect the Hostages: In the final level, your mission depends on keeping the freed POWs alive. If all hostages are killed in the crossfire, the mission is an instant failure.
