Knight Move is a fast-paced puzzle game designed by Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov and published by JV Dialog for the NES in 1990. Rather than matching falling blocks, you control a single chess piece across a tiled grid, requiring quick thinking as the pace constantly accelerates.
How to play
The goal is to collect the hearts that appear on the board by jumping in an L-shaped pattern, exactly like a knight in chess. Tiles weaken and eventually break into holes after you land on them, but collecting a heart will repair the board and advance the round. Use the Arrow keys to move. Press X (A button) and Z (B button) for actions, Enter to Start, and Shift to Select.
Tips
- Because tiles break after you jump on them, avoid bouncing back and forth between the same two squares so you do not box yourself in.
- As the game speed increases in later rounds, try to stay near the center of the board where you have the most movement options available.
