Hatris is a classic NES puzzle game developed by Bullet-Proof Software and designed by Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of Tetris. Released in 1990, this unique title replaces traditional falling blocks with various styles of hats that drop from the top of the screen. Players must stack identical hats to clear them and manage the increasingly fast-paced vertical puzzle board.
How to Play
The objective is to stack five hats of the same style on top of one another to remove them from the screen. Hats fall in pairs, and you must arrange them on six different heads at the bottom of the play area. Use the Arrow Keys to move the falling hats left or right, press the Z or X keys to swap the positions of the two hats, and press the Down Arrow to drop them faster. Press Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Focus on keeping your stacks balanced. Allowing one stack to grow too high limits your time to react and maneuver falling hats.
- Pay attention to the next pair of hats shown on the screen so you can plan your placements in advance.
- When you clear a set of five hats, any hats resting on top of them will fall down, which can be used to set up chain reactions.
