Game description:

Developed by Banpresto in 1994, The Great Battle IV is a side-scrolling action-platformer for the Super Nintendo (SNES) that brings together iconic characters from the Compati Hero Series. You take control of SD versions of V2 Gundam, Kamen Rider ZO, Ultraman Powered, and Fighter Roar, battling enemies across varied stages. The game stands out by seamlessly blending traditional run-and-gun platforming with spectacular giant mech boss fights, where you pilot the colossal Compati Kaiser.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate each stage, defeating enemies and overcoming platforming challenges before facing the boss. You can freely switch between the four heroes on the fly, each offering unique attacks and mobility skills suited for different situations. Standard SNES controls apply: use the D-pad to move, Y to attack, and B to jump. Use the L and R buttons to cycle through your roster. In the browser, these are mapped to the arrow keys, with A/S for L/R, X/Z for attack/jump, and Enter/Shift for Start/Select.

Tips

  • Use the right hero: Switch to V2 Gundam for long-range attacks or use Ultraman Powered when you need heavy melee damage against tougher enemies.
  • Master the Compati Kaiser: During the giant robot boss encounters, timing your blocks and learning the enemy’s attack patterns is crucial, as you cannot rely on simply button-mashing.
