Released for the Sega Master System in 1989, Golden Axe is an 8-bit port of Sega's classic arcade hack and slash brawler. How to Play
The objective is to fight your way through side-scrolling stages, battling fantasy creatures, knights, and bosses. For browser play, the standard Sega Master System controls apply: use the Arrow keys for the D-pad to move, Z and X for Buttons 1 and 2 to attack and jump, and Enter for Start/Pause. Cast your screen-clearing magic attacks once you have collected enough potions.
Tips
- Align carefully: Combat in this port requires precise positioning. Make sure you are exactly parallel with enemies to land a successful strike.
- Manage distance: Enemies cannot perform running charge attacks in this version, so use the extra reaction time to approach safely and strike first.
