Goal! is a top-down soccer game published by Jaleco for the NES in 1988. You choose from a roster of international national teams and play full matches either against the CPU or against a second player on the same keyboard.
How to Play
Use the arrow keys to move your active player — the game automatically switches your control to the teammate closest to the ball. When you have possession, Z (B button) shoots and X (A button) passes; when defending, Z challenges for the ball. Press Enter to confirm selections and start a match; Shift cycles options on the setup screen.
Tips
- Hold a diagonal direction as you press Z to aim shots toward the corner of the goal rather than straight at the keeper.
- On the setup screen you can adjust half length — shorter halves are good for trying different teams quickly; longer halves let the skill gap between sides show.
- When defending, position your player between the ball and your goal before pressing Z to tackle — mistimed challenges leave gaps behind you.
