Game description:

Originally released in North America as Final Fantasy III, this legendary 1994 SNES RPG developed by Square is widely regarded as a pinnacle of the genre. You lead a massive, diverse cast of charactersโ€”including Terra, Locke, and Celesโ€”who band together to stop the Gestahlian Empire and the unhinged Kefka from conquering the world with long-lost magic and mechanized armor.

How to Play

The game utilizes the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, where you issue commands like Fight, Magic, and Item when a character’s gauge fills. On this browser emulator, the SNES controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move, Z and X for primary actions (A/B), and Enter for Start. Equip your characters with Espers to teach them magical spells and alter their stat growth as they level up.

Tips

  • Wait on the Floating Continent: When the timer is ticking down at the end of the Floating Continent segment, do not jump immediately. Choose to wait, and stay at the edge until the final seconds to ensure Shadow survives.
  • Master Sabin’s Blitzes: Sabin’s Blitz attacks don’t cost MP and deal massive damage. Use his Aura Cannon (Down, Down-Left, Left + Action) to easily dispatch early bosses.
  • Vanish/Doom strategy: In the original SNES release, casting the Vanish spell on an enemy makes them vulnerable to instant-death magic like Doom or X-Zone, which even works on many difficult bosses.
