Game description:

Released by Square for the Famicom in 1990, Final Fantasy III is a seminal 8-bit role-playing game that introduced the franchise’s iconic Job System. Players guide four Light Warriors across floating continents and vast oceans on a quest to restore balance between light and darkness, customizing party roles freely to overcome challenging turn-based tactical battles.

How to Play

Guide your party through towns, world maps, and labyrinths to gain experience, purchase gear, and acquire elemental magic spells. Use turn-based commands during encounters to attack, cast magic, use items, or flee.

Browser controls map directly to standard NES inputs:

  • Arrow Keys: Move characters / Navigate menus
  • X: Confirm / A button
  • Z: Cancel / B button
  • Shift: Select
  • Enter: Start / Open status menu

Tips

  • Adapt your party composition: Switch job classes to exploit enemy weaknesses in specific dungeons, such as equipping Dragoons for airborne boss battles or Scholars to scan boss health and elemental weaknesses.
  • Manage job transitions: Changing jobs temporarily reduces character attributes during a transition period, so adjust roles during safe exploration before entering boss encounters.
  • Keep dedicated healing active: Late-game dungeons require high party endurance, so maintain a dedicated healing caster in your active party to sustain health between battles.
